Our client was walking along a designated footpath at an annual cultural festival when he tripped and fell onto his right hand and chest. He sustained soft tissue injuries to his hand and chest, and we were able to recover personal injury compensation for him of just over £3,250.

Comment: The footpath comprised wooden planks that were laid onto a grassed area. The planks were meant to connect and were then covered with a carpet type material. However, the planks were not connected together or secured to the ground properly. The accident happened when one end of a plank rose as someone walked on the opposite end of it. Our client’s accident could easily have been avoided had the planks been properly secured.
