WORKER DEVELOPS RASH AND SWELLING TO FACE AND EYES AFTER BEING EXPOSED TO SPILT SUBSTANCE AND RECOVERS SIZEABLE DAMAGES IN WORK ACCIDENT COMPENSATION CLAIM
December 11th, 2009 by adminOur client was employed in the storeroom at his work, which was meant to be a dry and clean area at all times, when he developed a rash and swelling to his face and eyes. Earlier that day he had been sorting out the “spill kits”, which were used whenever a spillage occurred. These kits contained a small bag for the spillage to be put in and ties to secure around the top of the bag to seal the spillage. However, one of the bags was not secured with a tie and this resulted in our client being exposed to the spilt epoxy resin. This caused him to develop a rash and soreness of the eyes. He was found to have become sensitized to epoxy resin, which means that whenever he is exposed to any quantity of this substance in the future he will suffer similar symptoms. His opportunities for finding similar types of work are therefore limited. As a result we were able to recover personal injury compensation for him of £5,600.
