April 12th, 2012 by Steven Hinchliffe

Published in CV Driver April 2012.

In this series of articles written by solicitor Steven Hinchliffe (owner of the specialist Personal Injury firm Hinchliffes Solicitors) he highlights the types of accidents suffered by professional drivers and their colleagues, where his firm has been successful in securing compensation for the injured victim. His firm has many years of experience in handling accident claims, particularly following accidents at work and while on the road – and has recovered millions of pounds in compensation for clients.

CASE HISTORY

How the Accident Happened

In October 2002, an agency driver working for a large retailer was required to collect a trailer from a service station at night.  He had not been specifically trained in how to connect this type of trailer.  However, an employee of the retailer asked him for help and while he was in the process of connecting the trailer to the back of his cab, the employee raised the trailer legs causing it to come down on his right arm.

Whenever there is snow and ice this almost always causes significant problems, both to drivers and pedestrians.  Accidents happen, mainly on public roads or pavements, with local councils and highway authorities potentially having to pick up the tab for any injuries or damage suffered.
