Pia and Bari Sofa Claim
Want to make a Pia or Bari Sofa Injury Claim?
If you have been injured by a Defective Product such as the Pia and Bari suites sold through Argos, Homebase and other retail outlets and your injury occurred within the last three years, you may be entitled to claim Personal Injury Compensation. We can help you achieve justice and recover Compensation with our FREE* No Win No Fee, and No Risk service.
Claims for personal injury compensation are being made by 1000s of people who have bought sofas and suites from Argos and other stores and have since developed painful skin irritations and rashes. These skin conditions appear to have been caused by direct contact with the sofas and suites sold.
Typical Injuries
Tests have been carried out by consultant dermatologists and the most likely source of the problems are items of furniture bought during 2007 that appear to have been made in China and were sold under the names of Pia or Bari.
Sufferers have described a number of symptoms, including the appearance of a rash or other blemishes on their backs, and have sometimes become aware of lumps under the skin that have caused additional stress and anxiety. Diagnosis usually follows a visit to the GP or hospital and in many cases the remedy is straight forward. However, the sufferer may be left with permanent scars.
The Sellers Legal Position
People who purchase goods are owed a duty of care by the retailer, which includes an assurance that they will not be injured by the product sold. If this duty is breached and injury or illness is caused, the retailer will often be found responsible and injury compensation awarded.
Investigations in the Pia and Bari sofa cases suggest that any burns may have been caused by fungicide sachets that were inside the sofas and which were to protect against mould during transit and storage.
Successful Claims
The insurers for the relevant retailers are readily admitting liability for the injuries so long as they can be clearly seen to be due to sitting on the defective sofas. In each case medical evidence will need to be produced to prove that this is so.
Compensation Payable
In most cases the injuries have not been too serious and compensation is likely to be between £2,500 and £6,500.
Plus: The payment of your Financial Losses (eg lost wages) and expenses (eg medical treatment) as a direct result of your accident.
